Went to see Hot Fuzz again over the weekend, and it's still defying the application of superlatives. Never has a Grandmother been kicked in the face more rightiously.

So, the political make up of the country is currently under revision. I can't help but support these changes, as I consider it obscene in this modern day and age for a country that attempts to promote democracy around the world still has half its government run by unelected, and even hereditary peers. Sure, they don't have as much power as the elected MPs, and can be overwritten, but the whole principal rankles. The Lords seems to have no real purpose, apart from to delay motions proposed by the Commons, and is just one step further from the will of the public, so that the party leaders can have their yes men, rather than have any real debate.

Also, the way this vote has gone just seems bizarre. Most of the MPs who didn't want a fully elected Lords voted for it, pushing through the most radical change, in the thought that the Lords will then slap it down. This kind of political powergame depresses me.

Also: atheist coins are worth more, Elf steals lingerie, and hello, uncanny valley.
