I was menaced by a swan today. Have you ever seen a swan close up? They're fucking massive! Seriously huge! The bloody thing was stood in the middle of the towpath, halfway between bridges, so I couldn't get off the path, and wasn't budging . What must have been it's cygent was in the canal nearby- nearly adult sized, but still with brown down on it. While the adult swan stood there and hissed at me (mute swans most definately aren't mute) the cygnet swam up to me, and stuck it's neck out, making this kind of honking peep, and obviously begging for food. But since the adult thought I was a threat, the closer the young one got, the more enraged it became, wings arched over it's back, neck low, hissing viciously and waddling towards me in the most terrifying manner possible. I started to back down (you can't win fights against animals. The police can't arrest them for cruelty.), and the fucking things followed me, honking, hisisng and peeping, until a man with a labrador tried to squezze past me. I let him past, and then fled in the opposite direction, going home on the roads. I'm expecting to see a load of white feathers and a dead dog tomorrow morning.

In other news, my Dad's moped was stolen. Now, if it were a nice new moped, I'd understand, but this thing was C reg- that's about 24 years old! The people who service it are amazed it still running, they say it's a museum piece. It must have been joyriders who stole it, (although I doubt there's such thing as a joyride on a moped) even though it was locked with both a chain and immobiliser, as my Dad is paraniod- but not paraniod enough, it would appear. Worse, though, is that he now plans to buy a bike (if the police don't recover it- I doubt they will, somehow). This is not a good idea! Yes, I cycle everywhere, but I'm an overweight 22 year old, I have layers of bludder and youth on my side! He's a seriously underweight 58 year old with circulation problems! As soon as there's a snowstorm, or a decent frost, he'll collapse with hypothermia! And it's way too dangerous for him to be on the roads- I should know, I use them everyday!

But it waould seem that I inherited my obstinance from him, as he will not be moved from the idea. It's a big mistake, trust me.

ARGH! And now my TV is on the blink! The sound keeps flicking on and off! Buggery and damnation!

Ah. And now I've just sneezed five times. My nose hurts.
